Pittenweem is the home of the East Neuk fishing fleet, and is famous for its architecture, harbour and arts festival held in August. Nestled in the middle of Pittenweem’s picturesque conservation area White Horses luxury self-catering accomodation occupies the top floor of the old harbourmasters house, a Grade B listed building characteristic of this coastal village.
From here you can enjoy truly spectacular views over the harbour and Firth of Forth to the Isle of May, Bass Rock and north Berwick coastline. The perfect place to begin your holiday.
The sights and attractions of Edinburgh are only an hour away, whilest the magnificent beaches and golf courses of St Andrews are a 20 minute drive along the coast road. There are castles, a Kings hunting lodge, craft shops, art galleries, award winning beaches and the Fife Coastal Footpath all on your doorstep. Boat trips leave regularly from Anstruther (approx. 1 mile away) to the Isle of May where you can see nesting sea birds in spring and grey seal colonies in early autumn.
Village fishmongers sell melt-in-the-mouth ‘catch of the day’ if you want to eat in, or for eating out there are local friendly pubs and teashops, together with award winning fine food restaurants nearby. The village also has its own post office, chemist, bakery, general store and off licence.
Pittenween is a unique and pretty place where your holiday can be as restful or as energetic as you please. We find its timeless, unhurried charm just a little magical, and we hope you will too. |
